Many firms have off-site storage facilities. Some have whole dealing rooms in out-oftown
locations where the traders can go in the event of a business interruption.
However, there are still operational risks involved with having an off-site facility.
Some key questions the operational risk manager should ask are:
Ω Where is the location of off site facility versus customer location: far enough?
Ω What type of disaster is likely to affect both locations? Is that type of disaster a
possibility?
Ω What is the physical security of the off-site storage vendor?
